Did they agree with God's revelation of the truth? "His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen" (Romans 1:20). "They exchanged the truth of God for a lie" (Ro 1:20) and "their foolish heart was darkened" (Ro 1:21).
Did they comprehend reality by their own observation? Truth is "understood through what has been made" (Romans 1:20). Truth is "evident within them [because God] made it evident to them" (Ro 1:20).
Is God's law easy to comprehend and obey? They "do instinctively the things of the Law, these not having the Law to themselves" (Romans 2:14). The "Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind being darkened in their understanding" (Eph 4:17-18).
Is sin willful and conscious disobedience? They "gave themselves over to sensuality" (Eph :19) and "committed deeds worthy of a flogging" (Luke 12:48). Paul "acted ignorantly in unbelief" (1 Tim 1:13) and they sinned due to "the ignorance that is in them because of the hardness of their heart" (Eph 4:18).
Does God judge as soon as a violation becomes evident? "He who does not believe has been judged already" (John 3:18). He is "patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
