Because they were Jesus' disciples they were sure he was the Son of God.
"'By tis we believe that you came from God'" (John 16:30).
They asked, "'Who then is this?'" (Mark 4:41).
People were convinced who Jesus was by observing what he accomplished.
They said, "'Truly this was the Son of God'" (John 27:54).
Some thought he was "'John the Baptist; and others, Elijah; but still others Jeremiah'" (Mat 16:14).
They knew who Jesus was because he told them.
He said, "'I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel'" (Mat 15:24).
They "did not recognize the time of visitation" (Luke 19:44).
They recognized Jesus' authority to forgive sins.
"'The Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins'" (Mark 2:10).
"'Who can forgive sins but God alone?'" (Mark 2:7).
At least Jesus was accepted because he performed miracles.
"'It has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind'" (John 9:32).
They said to the previously blind man "'we know that this man is a sinner'" (John 9:24).
